After some 'time off' to have a family I decided that the fast paced life of an illustrator, wouldn't really gel with family life. So I decided to become a freelance artist, so I could have more control over my work and not be at the mercy of publisher's deadlines . I have been working on private commissions, and paintings for galleries and exhibitions.
In 2018 I was delighted to win the Christopher Parsons Award for Artistic Excellence at The International Wildlife Art Society. Christopher Parsons OBE was head of the BBC Natural History Unit from 1979-'83. It was him along with Sir David Attenbough that bought 'Life on Earth' to out TV screen in 1979. The award consists on completing four painting that have a theme running through them, I was so pleased to win this award especially as it was judged by leading wildlife artist Pip McGarry who commented that my work was ' A sublime collection of four paintings that filled the criteria on every level. A well deserved winner of this category'.
I have recently been taken on by 'Image by Design ' a licencing agency that deals mainly in decorative art for the greetings card market, and was thrilled to have some paintings licenced for the WWT a charity that is very close to my heart .
I was extremely flattered to be asked to be 'Artist in Residence' at the beautiful Nature in Art Museum /Gallery in Gloucester in 2017 and again in 2019 .

I am very fortunate to live in a part of rural Hampshire, where I have the 'best of both worlds' , being close to the South Coast and the beautiful South Downs. I have a life long love of the flora and fauna that surround her, and since going freelance I am able to concentrate on sketching , painting the wildlife of the South Downs and the South Coast .
