I am thrilled to be taking part again in this years 'Coast' Exhibtion at the VK Gallery in Cambridge. I have two paintings in the exhibition this year .
This was a recent commission - my largest painting so far ! 100 x 40 cm of one of the Farne Islands - I've not visited this part of the world - but it looks absolutely beautiful and is now on my 'to do ' list .
The brief was to paint a view of the Island from the beach and include oystercatchers and Eider ducks . Absolute joy to paint .
Absolutely thrilled to find out that one of my favourite paintings 'Low Tide', has been published as a Christmas card for The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, this year. I feel that this in some way completes a circle ! As a child I went on a day trip with my parents to Slimbridge WWT, my Dad bought me book of Tunnicliffe's illustrations in the gift shop . I loved the book and the beautiful sketches of birds , decades on I still have it . The book inspired me to study Natural History Art, and become a wildlife illustrator/artist.
Now years on I find that my artwork has made it's way to the WWT gift shop !
I grew up in Denmead and entered the annual exhibition as a child, I still continue to enter and support the Exhibition , these paintings will be exhibited there over the weekend ( 23rd and 24th Sept in the church Hall .)
Hope to see you there - will add a link for details.
I was very flattered to be asked to be part of the Coast Exhibition at the VK Gallery in Cambridge , I have 4 paintings on show there . www.vkgallery.co.uk/paintings/#/denise-coble/ . Do pop along if you're local - lovely gallery with some beautiful artwork on display.
I will be 'artist in residence' at Nature in Art , Gloucester from 6 - 11th of June.
I remember visiting this Art Gallery / Museum whilst studying Wildlife Illustration many years ago . It is a wonderful Art gallery full of beautiful art work inspired by Nature.
If you are in the area - do pop in and say 'hi' . I will be working with gold leaf/ mixed media during this week .
I've been experimenting recently with mixed media, combining gold leaf torn paper and acrylic to produce these images. Enjoying doing these , although all the same 'rules' apply for colour/composition and tone which is rather fun when applying torn paper to create these.
I was very flattered to have been asked recently to be 'artist in residence ' at Nature in Art next year natureinart.org.uk/ . I remember visiting this beautiful museum as a student. Will be working in their on site studio for a week during the Summer of 2017 - dates to be confirmed later this year .
My daughters have been nagging me for some time to do a blog , to be honest I'm not very 'techy' and wasn't really sure what a 'blog' was ! "just write about what you do" my eldest said - so from time to time I'll pop some WIP on here and try to show you my work process !
