Illustration Work

I sometimes get asked what the difference is between an illustration and a painting . Sometimes it's difficult to define , I personally think it is the intent of the piece of work. With my paintings I am trying to convey something that I have seen. With my illustration work it is usually commissioned and has a specific purpose, either to illustrate a book or greeting card . I enjoy doing both , I like the freedom of being able to paint what I want with my freelance work, and enjoy working with publishers with my illustration work .
I have spent most of my career working as an illustrator for children's books, via SGA Illustration Agency  , just recently I have been working on a series of illustrations aimed at the greeting card market .
